So, the Sheep and Wool Festival was SUPER FUN!!! I was very good and limited myself to a mere 4 skeins of yarn (I could have bought any number more, but I'm trying to stop myself from buying yarn unless I have a project in mind for it). I picked up a giant skein of naturally colored alpaca (from brown and black alpacas) and 3 skeins of hot pink merino/silk laceweight, which I'm going to make into a lace wrap. The alpaca...I might just pet it a lot. Or make it into a hat. Who knows?!

Anyway the drive up was gorgeous (except for the enormous line to get into the fairgrounds parking lot) and the day was beautiful (especially when we were in the sun) and did I mention SHEEP?


Even the sheep were smiling!

I came home just now to find all their signage gone and a for-rent sign. So, you know, in case any of you are interested in moving here and running a funeral home....

There is some serious ass lightning going on outside right now. Not much thunder yet (looks like it's over in Jersey right now) but wowsers. No rain yet either, but I can smell it coming so....hopefully this breaks the heat a bit.

Ah, here comes the thunder. Also, forked lightning GALORE.

It is hot as balls outside! Fortunately (and to my amazement) it is actually not hot inside my apartment. With the fan going, I actually feel quite comfortable (although I will NOT be turning the stove on. Thank goodness for the microwave.)

Had productive weekend of rice dumpling making and such other domestic pursuits. I also took a ton of photos of fairly mundane things, but the novelty of the new camera has not yet worn off. Don't worry--I won't subject you all to toooooo many photos of grass and stuff ;)

And now, for watermelon. If I were feeling more motivated, I would go out to buy some feta and mint and make watermelon salad (because although it sound weird, it also sounds awesome!) but I think I'm just going to have plain old watermelon.

My Christmas cactus bloomed over the weekend! And there is a tiny new flowerbud too.
